Prata’s clame to fame is to be the first to rap over a kuduro beat. Around 1999, Luanda’s growing hip hop scene spilled over in the kuduro world, where toasting was still the norm. Rappers like Puto Prata or Bruno M took kuduro by storm, spitting their aggressive rhymes over the fast paced kuduro batidas (beats or riddims). Cara Podre’s a fine example of this newer style of kuduro.
